Every effort is undertaken to offer you correct and concise information to assist you in determining the age or manufacture date of HVAC equipment.  Anytime anyone is dealing with numbers and letters in determining data, mistakes and misinterpretation are bound to happen.  For this reason if you find during your research that we may have erred please contact us.  In addition perhaps you have come across a brand, model or serial number format that we have not addressed.  Email us information or pictures of data/nomenclature plates of the unit and we will attempt to assist you in your determinations.  Email

Amana (2003 thru Present)

Date of Manufacture:  The manufacturing date code is the first, second, third, and fourth digits of the serial number, and represent the Year and Month of manufacture.

For example:  0301477348 indicate that the Amana Unit was manufactured in January 2003.

Year of manufacture:  0301477348

Month of manufacture:  0301477348

Amana (1996 thru 2002)

Date of Manufacture:  The manufacturing date code is the first and second digits of the serial number, and represent the Year of manufacture.

For example:  970B163625 indicates that the Amana Unit was manufactured in 1997.

Amana (1971 thru 1995)

Date of Manufacture:  From the Amana (Goodman Company, L.P.) website. - "Maintenance and service play a key role in the lifecycle of a heating or air conditioning system.  If all recommended maintenance and service actions are taken, an air conditioner can last 12 to 15 years and a gas furnace 20 to 25 years."

From 1971 thru 1995 Amana age determination used what is commonly referred to as the B-L-A-C-K-H-O-R-S-E method.  The first letter of the serial number determines the Year of Manufacture.

Example Serial #:  BB80200127 - In this case the Amana unit was manufactured in either 1971 or 1981.  Hopefully there will be a maintenance chart or even installation sticker present to help narrow your search even further.  Another clue may be the age of the home.  Based on Goodman's life expectancy above, it would be safe to assume that any Amana Unit beginning with a Letter in the serial number is nearing or has exceeded its life cycle.
